Our team of public health professionals and clinical experts is uniquely equipped to manage state contracts. We are seeking high-performing Seasonal PRN with a current RN license and a minimum of 1 year experience in emergency or critical care nursing to join our team to provide comprehensive medical care to inmates in the Correctional Facilities of St Croix or St Thomas of the Virgin Islands.

This is 1099 Contractor Position. Registered Nurses shall work eight hours per day for 3-5 days each week or depending on the needs of the facility.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care within the corrections -setting, ensuring the health and well-being of all inmates
• Assess and monitor inmate’s medical conditions, administer medications, and assist in emergency medical situations
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans for each inmate
• Document all nursing interventions and maintain accurate medical records in accordance with facility policies
• Adhere to strict security protocols and maintain confidentiality of inmate information at all times
• Monitor and assess patients’ conditions and report changes to healthcare providers
• Perform pain management interventions as needed
• Conduct IV infusions and manage IV lines
• Assist in primary care procedures and examinations
• Utilize electronic health record systems for documentation
• Manage catheters and provide catheter care
• Administer medications and monitor their effectiveness, adhering to established protocols
• Respond quickly and effectively to medical emergencies
• Maintain compliance with health service standards and accurately document all relevant activities

Knowledge, Skills, and abilities must demonstrate:

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) preferred
• Valid RN license in the state of practice
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Registered Nurse in a clinical setting
• Proficiency in pain management techniques and IV infusion procedures
• Experience in primary care settings and familiarity with EHR systems
• Knowledge of ophthalmology practices and procedures
• Ability to perform CT scans and assist in laboratory tasks
• Experience with DME management and catheter care
• Familiarity with administering dermal fillers as part of aesthetic treatments
• Active ACLS Certification
• Ability to communicate effectively using written and oral communication skills
• Ability to use effective positive interpersonal skills
• Computer proficiency including basic word processing, spreadsheet, and database software skills
• Ability to assist students by action or interaction in carrying out specialized therapeutic or physical care plans and procedures
• Ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of special needs and therapeutic equipment; familiarity with HIPAA laws of confidentiality
• Must possess knowledge of OSHA compliance standards
• Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimum supervision
• Ability to compose correspondence and prepare reports in an articulate manner

Physical Requirements:

• Capable of working extended hours if and when the position requires it.
• Able to see well enough to read faint or partially obscured writing or printing, with corrective lenses if needed.
• Position involves sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, shoving, lifting, carrying, and moving objects that can weigh up to 50 lbs. This movement can occur throughout the day.
• Must be able to interact with all types of individuals, be mentally alert, detail oriented, and with good reasoning skills.
• Must have finger dexterity for holding objects, typing, etc.
