Lumberyard Associate Part Time

Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Lumber Associate to join our retail team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting customers with their lumber and building material needs, maintaining a well-organized lumber yard, and providing exceptional service. This position offers an opportunity to develop retail and sales skills in a dynamic environment, supporting both the store’s operations and customer satisfaction.

Duties

• Assist customers in selecting lumber, building materials, and related products, providing knowledgeable recommendations.
• Lifting and loading Lumberyard products.
• Stock shelves, organize displays, and ensure merchandise is properly labeled and replenished.
• Verify purchased products and preform receipt checks when needed..
• Upsell products by identifying customer needs and suggesting additional items to enhance their purchase.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to merchandising standards and safety protocols.
• Support supervising staff with inventory management, stock rotation, and merchandising tasks.
• Provide excellent customer service through effective communication, phone etiquette, and friendly assistance.
• Assist with product demos or promotional events as needed to increase sales and customer engagement.

Skills

• Strong communication skills with the ability to assist diverse customers effectively.
• Retail math proficiency for handling transactions accurately.
• Basic math skills for measuring, estimating quantities, or calculating totals.
• Experience with Lumber, Construction or retail sales is preferred, but not required.
• Supervising experience or leadership skills are a plus for supporting team operations.
• Bilingual abilities are advantageous for serving a diverse customer base.
• Knowledge of merchandising, stocking procedures, and product demos enhances performance in this role.
• Excellent phone etiquette for professional communication with customers over the phone.
• Ability to upsell products by understanding customer needs and recommending suitable solutions. This position requires a friendly attitude, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment while delivering outstanding customer service.
