We’re growing and looking for enthusiastic, safety-minded PADI Dive Instructors to join our team. Our instructors lead daily dive trips and teach everyone from first-time Discover Scuba Divers to experienced divers working toward their Divemaster certification.

Job Responsibilities

• Guide certified divers and snorkelers on daily boat trips, including preparing gear and the boat, assisting guests, cleaning equipment, and refilling tanks.
• Teach Discover Scuba, Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Refresher, Rescue Diver, and other PADI programs within PADI standards.
• Conduct dive-site briefings, safety briefings, environmental/conservation briefings, and post-dive debriefs.
• Prepare equipment, paperwork, and course materials and process students through the PADI system.
• Review waivers, medical forms, and student paperwork before dives and courses.
• Perform first-mate duties including tying up to docks, mooring and anchoring, assisting with emergency procedures, and helping ensure safe boat operations.
• Fill scuba tanks and assist customers with equipment rentals, including checking bookings and waivers, explaining equipment use, and checking gear back in.
• Safely navigate divers away from and back to the boat. Our dive sites are stationary, so instructors are responsible for keeping track of their group and getting everyone safely back to the boat on time.
• Help maintain our boats, equipment, and dive areas to the high standards our guests expect.

Schedule & Lifestyle

Low Key Watersports is open 365 days a year, and holidays are some of our busiest times. A typical workday is approximately 7:30 AM–5:30 PM, with occasional half days.

Our morning and afternoon trips are generally two-tank dives, with additional opportunities including weekly one-tank night dives and three-tank wreck trips.

Full-time crew typically work 40–50 hours per week, depending on the season and operational needs.

The best part? You’ll spend your workdays on the water in beautiful St. John, diving incredible Caribbean sites alongside a team that genuinely loves what we do.

Qualifications

• Current PADI OWSI certification in active status.
• Current First Aid & CPR certification.
• Ability to participate in and pass random drug screenings as required for Coast Guard compliance.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and work outdoors in a marine environment.
• Ability to lift and carry scuba tanks and equipment, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to bend, squat, climb ladders, and safely move around boats and docks.
• Strong customer-service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while being a positive, dependable team member.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.

No professional dive-instruction experience? No problem!

If you’re a newly certified PADI OWSI with the right attitude, work ethic, and passion for diving, we are willing to train you.

Instructors are responsible for maintaining their annual PADI membership and drug consortium fees. If you are not currently a member of a qualified drug consortium, you will need to join one upon arrival.
