Athletic Club Manager Full Time

Position Summary

Coral Cove Tennis and Racquet Club is a new private recreation club located at Yacht Haven Grande St Thomas (St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands), a world-class mixed-use development that includes retail, commercial space, restaurants, and a superyacht marina. The newly renovated club offers 1 tennis court, 4 pickleball courts, 2 padel courts, a volleyball court, as well as a lagoon-style pool and other club facilities.

The Athletic Club Manager oversees daily operations, programming, and the guest experience across the club’s recreational and wellness facilities, including tennis, padel, and pickleball courts, the volleyball area, pool, memberships, retail operations, and special events. This role ensures the club runs efficiently while delivering a premier hospitality and sports experience for members, guests, residents, and visitors.

The Club Manager is responsible for driving membership growth, increasing facility utilization, coordinating tournaments and events, supervising staff, and maintaining high operational and service standards throughout the club. This position requires full-time residency on St. Thomas, USVI.

Key Responsibilities

Club Operations & Facility Management

• Oversee the daily operations of all club amenities, including:
  • Sport courts
  • Volleyball area
  • Pool and lounge areas
  • Retail and guest service areas
• Ensure all facilities are clean, safe, properly maintained, and guest-ready at all times
• Coordinate court scheduling, reservations, and programming activities
• Monitor facility usage and implement strategies to maximize utilization and revenue
• Work closely with maintenance, housekeeping, and operations teams to address cleanliness, repairs, and preventative maintenance needs
• Supervise the Club racquet sports professional and other staff
• Oversee the club’s merchandise shop including inventory management, daily service standards, and point-of-sale system. Support the club’s emergency preparedness and storm season procedures, in coordination with facility maintenance staff, to secure and safeguard property and equipment

Membership Management

• Develop and implement membership sales and retention strategies
• Manage membership enrollment, renewals, billing, and member communications
• Build strong relationships with members and provide exceptional customer service
• Address member concerns and resolve issues promptly and professionally
• Promote club programs, lessons, clinics, tournaments, and social activities

Programming & Events

• Plan, organize, and oversee:
• Tennis and padel tournaments
• Pickleball leagues and clinics
• Volleyball events
• Poolside events and social gatherings
• Corporate and private club events
• Coordinate event logistics, staffing, vendor needs, sponsorships, and guest experience
• Develop seasonal programming to increase member engagement and club activity

Staff Leadership & Development

• Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise club staff, instructors, and contractors
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and development
• Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment focused on hospitality and professionalism
• Ensure staff compliance with operational procedures, safety standards, and customer service expectations

Financial & Administrative Management

• Assist in preparing and managing club budgets and operating expenses
• Monitor revenue performance related to memberships, lessons, court rentals, retail, and events
• Prepare operational reports and analyze trends to improve efficiency and profitability
• Manage inventory, retail sales, and vendor relationships for club merchandise and supplies
• Ensure accurate recordkeeping and reporting for memberships, events, and financial transactions

 Guest Experience & Hospitality

• Maintain a high standard of hospitality and member satisfaction throughout the club
• Serve as the primary point of contact for escalated guest and member concerns
• Create a welcoming and energetic club atmosphere that encourages community engagement
• Ensure all club operations align with the luxury standards of the property

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or experience in the related field preferred.
• Minimum 3–5 years of management experience in racquet sports, hospitality, recreation, or club operations.
• Experience managing tennis, padel, pickleball, or sports club facilities preferred.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Experience with membership management systems and scheduling software preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong customer service and conflict resolution skills.
• Financial management and budgeting experience are preferred.
• This role requires relocation to St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States (and U.S. territories); standard U.S. work authorization applies.
• Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required by club hours, programming, and events.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the property.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of tennis, padel, and pickleball programming and operations.
• Experience coordinating tournaments and special events.
• Retail and food & beverage operational knowledge is a plus.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
• Fluency in English

Reporting Structure

Reports to: General Manager / Director of Operations

Compensation & Benefits

• Compensation: Base salary of $90,000-$110,000, commensurate with experience and certifications.
• Performance Bonus Target: 15% of base (tied to KPIs, member retention, execution goals)
• Membership Sales Incentive: 15% of first 50 memberships sold, 10% of new member sales thereafter, 5% of renewal membership sales.
• Private and semi-private member lesson commission: 70% professional / 30% club.
• Non-member / guest lesson commission: 50% professional / 50% club.
• Relocation Allowance: up to $5,000 subject to pre-approval and receipts. Club and recreational benefits.
